Indonesian photographer community; AyoFoto! on celebrating their late 2nd anniversary will hold AyoFoto! Fair 2008. This fair will be hold in a luxurious 5 stars Apartment & Office Tower The Bellezza , Jakarta – Indonesia at 23 – 29 March 2008.

The main agenda of this fair is launching new version of their website and official gathering to all member of this photographer community. Except that there will be photo exhibition, workshop/course/photo session, bazaar, and seminar.

Hello world!
I’m sorry for rarely update in this blog. It’s rainy and stormy here. And chaotic connection to the internet for sure. There were so many things happened to me. But don’t worry I’ll be alright.

Now here we are. I just wanna tell you that My Personal Portfolio is back online since two weeks ago. Yes folks www.detaro.tk is re-launch. Well for you who don’t know detaro.tk is my personal portfolio about graphic design, visual art and photography. I love those things so I created some stuff about graphic design. Building a Stock Digital Photography Portfolio

First ask yourself: do you like to take digital photos? I know it might sound like a stupid question, but it is the proper question to analyze. To break it down further do you have the patience, time and attitude to make a successful stock photography portfolio. To clarify the term stock photography sites, they are places where people can buy and sell digital photos. Buyers need stock photos in order to make their webpages, advertisements, art mediums, and anything else. These sites help independent companies, personal business, and pretty much any business that does not want to hire a photographer(s) or do you have the resources and funding to hire a photographer(s). More importantly stock photography sites help freelance digital photographers make money or earn a living selling their pictures. How much money? depending on how much you work, you can make a $1 to $500 a month from each site, with payouts around 25 cents - dollars per photograph. In order to make around a $500 dollar a month per site salary your going to need a good digital stock photo portfolio.

Why I ask the question: do you like to take pictures? is because you will be taking a lot of them. Were talking hundreds and eventually thousands. Because I know that snapping pictures might be funner than flipping burgers but when it comes down to it, you really have to love taking them in order to do hundreds. Let me paint a picture, you take out your digital camera and start to take pictures of a sunset. So you put it on a stand and take a picture, the picture turns out too dark. You change the exposure to a couple of seconds and you snap the picture again, the picture is way too bright. After adjusting the exposure one more time, you take the picture again to find that you didn't like your angle. So now you got 4 or 5 bad pictures and 1 good one, only a couple hundred more to go.

I don't mean to sound like this is a horrible task because obviously taking pictures is the funnest and most rewarding part of photography. But now that you have answered: "Yes, I love photography" you can start to build your own portfolio.

How Many Pictures You should Have
First set a goal for yourself, a reasonable one, lets say 100 freelance photos with no more than 3-5 repeats. In order to obtain your goal think about shooting your pictures before you do it. Before you go to sleep think about where you will go tomorrow in order to shoot your photos. Then take about 20 to 40 pictures per day and only pick out 10 to 20 pictures. Everyday you should find that you will be analyzing what you want to envision in your pictures, you will start to see better angles, lighting and concepts for your freelance photography.

After you have about 100 pictures taken, maybe in the span of about a week, go back and look at the first ten photos or so and see if you find improvement compared to the last ten, you should be getting better. If you stay consistent with your photography taking sessions you will get dramatically better and have hundreds of original photos to show for it. After you have taken hundreds and hundreds of photos you might find that you wont even want to keep your first hundred and that feeling is normal. It will take a while, but soon you will have the ability to take a hundred photos in one session and only throw out ten. Ideally you want somewhere between 400 to 800 photos in the beginning, but you will build up thousands after a long while of doing this.

What You Should Take Pictures of
Some pictures sell better than others, but what really sells a picture is its quality. That's why shooting things you will enjoy will naturally sell better due to quantity and quality. If you don't like shooting pictures of water fountains then your probably not going to take the best and most pictures of water fountains. After taking your first hundred photos think of which ones you like taking the most and expand upon that. Try taking more of the same type and see if that subject truly sparks your photographers niche. It is recommended for your first set of pictures is to choose one or two niche(s) for you pictures. This will limit the competition, because if just take random pictures they are likely to be washed out from other photographers with more direct keywords.

Try to think of what the person would use your pictures for: an advertisement, a graphic design, or maybe a brochure. Graphic designers want simple objects they can manipulate but a brochure maker wants full detailed digital photos. Also try to think of more ways to describe photography, not just ways like macro, geometric, portrait, or cityscape but other ways like decadent, blue (colors), futuristic, noble or sensual. This will bring anybody looking for your particular niche straight to you.

Other Things you Should Know
Remember when taking all your freelance digital photos to have enough space on your computer/camera. After taking thousands of pictures at 6 to 10 megapixels each it can fill up your space quicker than you think. If you start to fill up on space burn a DVDR or find a alternate hardrive/memory storage.

If you are taking any modeling pictures make sure the model signs off on submitting the photos to be sold.

Don't include any signatures, marks or logos on your picture to confine their ownership.

This is purely an overview of getting a proper stock photo portfolio, you still have a lot of research to do. Technical ideas like keywords, conversions, uploading, saturated photo niches, and so on cannot be learned by yourself. Talk to people with the same career interest as you or get a Ebook to help you get started, just keep your mind open and keep learning.

Photography is used to preserve memories of favorite times, to capture special moments, to tell stories, to send messages, and as a source of entertainment. It has been called both an art and a science. It is an art form not unlike painting. A career in photography is often chosen because of its lifestyle and creative outlet. Photography is probably the most influential medium of the modern era.

Ways We Use Photography
Glamour photography is popular in advertising and in men's magazines. Street photography is a type of documentary photography that usually features people in candid situations in public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions, and other settings. The unique thing about still photography is that it forces you to stop, it forces you to think. Food photography is similar to still life photography, but requires some special skills. Nature photography is a rewarding experience for the photographer and also for the people who get to view the results. Aerial photography is used today as a source to collect a wide variety of information, including the location of transportation routes, streams, lakes, and the outlines of buildings and farm fields. Out of the various styles of photography recognized today, sports photography is favored most, probably for the thrill and excitement associated with it. For many, wedding photography is a dream job -getting paid to go to parties and take pictures.

All photographers are competing against an enormous pool of others at every skill level. As a photographer you need to learn how to make yourself soar above all the other turkeys out there. The photographers job is to use all their skills and techniques to bring meaning to a picture.

The tools of photography change all the time and these changes effect what we can do in the making a photograph. New photographic visions can arise from these technological changes. But for me, photography isn't about tools: it's about connecting with other people through your unique vision of the world. I personally feel that photography is another form of art like painting and I judge it based on whether the artists' expression talks to me.

Conclusion
The wonderful thing about photography is its ability to perform many roles and functions and to serve as a tool for individual expression. Photography is alive and well, it rocks!

Common Problems Associated With Photography:
Photography has long had its own language, and digital photography adds many new terms. Ever wonder what the difference was between a tripod and a monopod or just wondered what both of them do. Here are a few common terms and their meaning:

Image Sensors: Pixels and Image Sizes describe key concepts such as resolution, aspect ratio, and color depth that have a huge impact on your photographs.

Image Longevity: Although digital image data does not degrade (film stock can fade), the media on which the digital images are stored can decay or become corrupt, leading to a loss of image integrity.

Image Browser: An application that enables you to view digital photos.

Image Editor: A computer program that enables you to adjust a photo to improve its appearance.

Digital Manipulation: A digital image can be modified and manipulated much easier and faster than with traditional negative and print methods.

Say good bye to light problems:
Digital photography has made it possible to quickly and easily take a pair of images of low-light environments: one with flash to capture detail and one without flash to capture ambient illumination. Digital photography bypasses the physical world altogether and directly captures the light from a scene onto a light-sensitive chip and saves the image as a computer file.

Tools and Equipment
Camera equipment has made great strides over the past century in mimicking how the human eye perceives the three-dimensional world within a two-dimensional medium. Cameras with digital sensors that are smaller than the typical 35mm film size will have a smaller field or angle of view when used with a lens of the same focal length. Cameras with high mega pixel ratings take larger pictures with more detail. Cameras with a direct electronic camera-to-computer interface are preferable to those requiring the use of an external memory card.

Digital cameras now outsell film cameras and include features that are not found in film cameras such as the ability to shoot video and record audio. Digital cameras can be much smaller than film cameras of equivalent quality.

How To Take Pictures In The Dark

Introduction
Have you ever taken a picture of a cherished moment only later to discover it did not develop well because of the lighting? This will never happen again.

Advancements in sensor technology are transforming the quality of digital cameras. Sensors will enable the camera to be two to four times as sensitive to light compared to what is currently available. Photographers will produce higher quality pictures in low lighting situations.

The current status
Flashes are currently used to add more light to a scene, but they may not always be effective or appropriate. For instance, photos are prohibited in some indoor venues because the flash may take away from the participants of the event. Due to the progression of light sensors, taking a picture indoors will produce better results and may promote the usage of cameras in more venues.

Out with the old
The new technology builds upon old technology, which works as follows: Red, green, and blue pixels work in conjunction with an image sensor to collect more light to produce a quality picture. Half of pixels gather green light, while the remaining pixels collect red and blue light. The inner software then reconstructs a full-color signal for each pixel.

In with the new
The sensor innovation introduces a fourth pixel. It is sensitive to all colors, so all wavelengths of light go through and are detected by the pixel. The pixels are highly sensitive because they do not filter out any light. The panchromatic pixels are used to harness the amount of light and the color pixels are used to procure the final image.

Conclusion
This sensor technology will revolutionize how we take pictures. It enhances the quality of the picture and grants more opportunities to take great pictures at times when it has previously been less than optimal to do so.

Troleys And Bags

A few months ago my office had a 3 days hoiliday trip to Bandung. It's about 45 people on trip. There's no special thing to talk about coz as usually in holiday trip there's must be full of laughs, pleasure and joy.

But there's one thing that made me surprised when we were at Soekarno-Hatta Airport ready to go back to Denpasar, I was surprised to know that the troleys to carried out our baggages become around 20 troleys!

Everybody shocked about that but at the same time they were laugh on it -to realize that they had been spent a lot of cash to shop in Bandung. We were understand about that 'coz Bandung is famous as Shoping City but it never cross in our mind that our baggages can be so much.

Well the point is "Wellcome to the world of consume when everybody shops 'till they're drop!!!"

Yes i can take picture too. But don't expect the professional pictures from me 'cause i'm just a guy who trying to capture anything. In one word you can call me amateur.

I also do not take pictures by specific theme. I free myself to take any pictures as long as i think its wonderful to save it on file.
